COCOBOD EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF SCHOLARSHIP FORMS

The attention of Ghana Cocoa Board has been drawn to a publication in the media urging COCOBOD to reopen applications for scholarships.

We wish to state that the initial deadline for this year’s application was October 7, 2011 but admission letters from the Senior High Schools, which are mandatory documents in the application process, were not ready by the said closing date. Due to this, the Board decided to extend the deadline.

We therefore wish to indicate to our valued farmers and the general public that we are still receiving application forms and will continue to receive till 31st December, 2011.

The Ghana Cocoa Board Farmers’ Scholarship Trust is part of the Board’s welfare services to farmers in the cocoa industry, towards the education of their wards in second cycle institutions. Thus, all wards of cocoa farmers who gain admission into second cycle schools qualify to apply for this financial assistance. As a result of this, the Scholarship Unit of the Board ensures that all deserving farmers are given fair opportunity to compete for the scholarship for their wards.

We hope this clarification will make it possible for farmers who could not meet the earlier deadline to do so on or before December 31, 2011.
